Abbreviated-on being human

Meaning: I'll try to keep this brief! (as possible?) I'm told, "God
is not human." It comes home more clearly with time how little thought
we've given to these matters. IMPLICATIONS has become an extremely
important word to me. I think of things we covered in seminary and in
years of graduate courses, and only later did it occur to me what are
the implications of some of these ideas. For example: what does it
mean that God is INCARNATE? We always thought of the 2nd Person of the
Holy Trinity taking on flesh so he could die on the cross as a "man".
Essentially, that was it. That raises obvious questions as to "why?"
And so we have Anselm's classic "Cur Deus Homo?"- Why did God become
a man? Well, so he could die like a man and pay our debt to God's
holiness. That was it. Ah, but once you begin to reflect on the
"implications"! Among many others, however, is this one: Is God human?
No? Then who is Jesus? 1) obviously human 2) and God. One might say,
yes, but "only" the Second Person.... But "orthodox" Christianity knows
each/any Person of the H. Trinity "contains" the "Whole" Trinity. You
don't get that? What part do you- or anyone- get? Or are we talking
about the same Trinity? Bible says: the "FULNESS of the Godhead" dwells
in Jesus "bodily". So Jesus is a human being and Jesus is God. Therefore,
God is human. If you fail to see that you have not begun to appreciate
the incredible mystery of God's relationship with us. I'll have to wait
till later to develope the IMPLICATIONS. These things get longer than I
intend. To everybody, God bless
