confusion

Being very frank, it isn't just the confusion of Protestantism that upsets me. It's mostly the assumption that you can't really know anything for sure; unless you're very shallow. Some
people can't be satisfied with trite answers to the serious questions of life. Christ saw the masses without a shepherd: that gets to me. When I read the comments on Christianity Today, for
example, I hear frustration, anger, and dogmatism. I'm reminded of C.S. Lewis saying that when he was an atheist he was mad at God for not "existing". There's really no one to teach with authority. I try to share what I've learned the hard way as a pastor, but to these folks I'm just another voice in the wind, just another opinion. I realized that as a pastor and that fact made me desparate for a faith that was more than just someone's Bible verse interpretation. You either became a fanatic or indifferent. Yes, pastors can really care about that. I was tired of representing me. And no, they don't necessaritly find their comfort in their sect's
party-line! Doesn't that say something about the anarchy and destruction set in motion- unintentionally- at the Reformation? Hint: that's why I'm not a Protestant anymore. -More on next post.
