On truth and opinions

People- thinking people- have to make decisions. Our
society has come to the conclusion that no opinion is
any better than any other. So you can have no consensus
as to right or wrong. Of course we can agree murder is bad,
but that's only because nobody (most?) wants to be killed.
But, beyond that, it's all up for grabs. Nothing's barred
on TV. I mean, don't jam your religion down my throat!
Granted, there's always room for differing tastes, etc.,
but is there no longer "any" basis for a societal consensus?
And not only does the same problem exist in religion,
religion's the problem. No, I don't mean it like R. Dawkins
means it. I mean the kind of religion we've inherited. The
only reason Dawkins can come to his conclusion is that a
certain kind of religion has created chaos in our culture.
The absolutely crucial decision "thinking" Christians have
to make is: 1) did Christ mean it when he said the Apostles
would be led into ALL the Truth and 2) did that Truth get
preserved somewhere? (Unless you know, no guessing allowed.)
More on this....
