quick point; use of Bible

An idea occurred to me in reading an article- actually two-
articles. Both deal with man/woman issues in the "church". I
put "church" in quotations because it offends my ecclesiology
(theology of the church) to use the term indiscriminately;
that is, to use the word as Protestants do; that every sect
/cult/"denomination" is the "church"- or part of it. That,
in fact, is part of the problem. Back to the main point: the
use of the expression "to use the Bible...." , as in "...guard
against the temptation to use the Bible as a sanction for....",
etc. Exactly! The folks who pride themselves as going strictly
"by the Bible" (Sola Scriptura) actually "use" the Bible to
support certain already predetermined assumptions; gotten from
the world, "their church", personal notions and prejudices, "Bible
studies", "theologies",etc.,etc. In short, the Bible IS NOT
THE authority, THEY are. And they, as the authority, "USE" the
Bible!!! This is not the way of Orthodoxy. Orthodoxy, from the
Apostles, has a very extensive knowledge of the Apostolic Tradition
covering every imaginable, relevant church issue. It does not debate
matters that were settled many centuries ago. It does not "re-invent
the wheel" every generation. It is not distracted by every cultural
issue, or new concept that comes down the "pike"! It does not USE the
Bible. Scripture is not to be "used". It inspires, informs, corrects,
but does not contradict what the Bible says; and the Apostles and
their disciples and their disciples (the Fathers) taught us almost
two thousand years ago how we are to understand these things; things
that are CONFUSING and DEBATABLE only among Catholics and Protestants.
