why are we loved?

I'm puzzled. I have a note that's in quotations. (It's
hard for me to say "quotes". I had a college prof who
told us it's incorrect. I wish she hadn't. It sounds OK,
and besides, it's shorter!)
Anyway, my point is I don't know where I got it. I'd like
to think it's original with me because it rings really
profound in its implications.
"We are loved because we are loved." Why (assuming, hope-
fully, they did) did your parents love you. Or perhaps,
closer to home, why do you love your children? One may
speculate but I think that's all we can do. Finally, I
think it's because it's "natural" (innate?) to love. One
loves because one is, at least at this point, loving.
(Ps.27:10) "When my father and mother forsake me, Then the
Lord will take care of me." How's that for a heart-felt
conviction? We're loved just because.
